Hebrews 8:13 In speaking of ‘a new covenant’, he has made the first one obsolete. And what is obsolete and growing old will soon disappear.

Anyone want to comment on what they think of Hebrews Chapter 8? What I take from it is that as Jesus reveals the better and true covenant, of peace and love, the rules of loving God, self and neighbour displace all the strict rules of the books we have in the Old Testament / Hebrew Bible – which of course contain many contradictions anyway. They are still important and we can still find inspiration in and learn from these historical sources, but they are not law. The law of God is love… your thoughts? Drop a comment…

I really like this post Rachael. Jesus of course combined the laws of Loving God from Deuteronomy 6:5 and loving neighbour from Leviticus 19:18 to give the great double commandment in the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke’s gospel. And through his resurrection I believe, like the writer of the Hebrews, that he is now the mediator of that covenant of love, for all. Are you at uni at the moment?
