Lent 2012: Day Twenty-Three

John 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.

Truth… is the living force of a different reality, God himself. The key to travelling with God in his world is to grasp that it’s an attitude, an outlook, a matter of floating… let people know the truth, so the truth can set them free… Truth was not meant to be dissected; it was meant to be lived… [Jesus] has sent his Holy Spirit to help you to talk to him. Instead of writing his words on tablets of stone, God will now write them on your hearts, and you will know him… God is within us… brings renewal to our minds, and healing to our bodies… In recovering the awareness that truth is an expression of spiritual reality itself, and that it is not so much that truth is, as that truth does, we restore to it the power to change our lives. But I think that we need to go further, and realise that the reason it can change our lives is because it draws us into relationship with a God not just who is, but who is love. The truth which fills the universe is love; and it is therefore to be experienced in the heart as well as the mind.
