Lent 2012: Day Nineteen

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy.

Third verse in a row to jump out from the Lectionary about the Sabbath! Take it as a sign if you wish… resting and thanking is important. A set time to connect more with God, but also to connect more with ourselves.

“The resting place of the mind is the heart. The only thing the mind hears all day is clanging bells and noise and argument, and all it wants is quietude. The only place the mind will ever find peace is inside the silence of the heart. That’s where you need to go.”

– Elizabeth Gilbert, “Eat Pray Love”

Eat, Pray, Love. Quite a good three words to have in mind on the Sabbath day, and every day, which should be more Sabbath-like anyway. Yes?

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy.
