生きる – Ikiru

Song of the Week = In The World To Change The World – Evelyn Glennie & Fred Frith

I learnt last night watching Touch the Sound (a documentary with Evelyn Glennie) that in Japanese ikiru means to live, and ikiru comes from iki o suru, which means breathing.

And a powerful sermon in the 10:45 service this morning in my parish reinforced what I’d been thinking about late last night.

We are alive, because God breathed into us in the beginning of all things. God’s breath, Ruach, inside every one of us.

It is that which gives us life. It is God living inside of us. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter… God. Sharing intimately with us imperfect beings, a part of his own dear self.

Now isn’t that beautiful?

🙂
