Overseas

Listen to Oltremare – Ludovico Einaudi here.

Christmas for many in my parish this year has been much harder than usual. Many have lost, many have fallen ill. Some of our friends and family have gone overseas this Christmas. And eventually we will join them on our boats when our time comes. It is not an easy time for those who have lost and those leaving.
So lets take a moment of our days to stop the busyness, stop the noise, and sit in the peace and pray, today listening to Oltremare [Overseas], remembering them, remembering that God shares our hurts, and remembering that the calm seas which we all eventually travel over is not a place we need to be frightened of. It is Heaven, enfolded in God’s arms.
But for now, we continue on our earth every day to learn, to improve things, to bring the Kingdom of Heaven, of God, onto this beautiful planet, this beautiful creation. Together. To bring Love. To bring Peace. As I so often say, not to simply survive, but to Live.
