Dreaming

“The future belongs to those
who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

“Some men see things as they are and ask why.
Others dream things that never were and ask why not.”

George Bernard Shaw

We all dream, and today I refer to dreaming in the state of our awakening, not our sleeping!
Whether consciously or not we all aspire and desire certain things in our lives. Our dreams open a whole new realm of possibility, and remind us that the world is for ever changing.
But, it makes you think… is that really such a bad thing?
No! With change comes growth, opportunity, adventure… life!

I ask today, what is it that you dream of?
I have asked many people over the last months, and all answers, whether responding of family, friendship, of peace… all their dreams revolve around that one word.
Love.

When we love, we spend those moments of our lives in heaven here on earth. The kingdom of God as I have recently talked about, the peace and love of God that we can and do find in our lives all the time whether we recognize it as ‘God’ or not, we do indeed witness. If we could live in this love always we would never wait for anything to come along, but only to look into the eyes and hearts of all people, and when we see them looking back, when we feel their hand in ours, their hearts, souls and minds connected with ours, we find peace, compassion, friendship, that all important love.
The Life we have, the Love.

I dream of a world where all people, all races, all nationalities, all cultures, men, women, children, all beings from every continent can smile at one another and see God there. I dream of a world where all people can hold hands and hug without reservations. I dream of a world where love is never uncomfortable, but simply love! I dream of a world where love is in it’s fullest, and always, everlastingly expressed through our hearts, for all people, eternally.

Imagine that.

I dream often of a sort of ring around the earth. All people standing in the most massive of circles over land and sea, joining hands and smiling, and singing, and loving. Living. Life!

One of my favourite passages in the Bible was reminded of me today in my church’s morning service: 1 John 4:7-end.

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.

By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Saviour of the world. God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.

God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgement, because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. We love because he first loved us. Those who say, ‘I love God’, and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also.

We all learn from one another. And the older we get the more knowledge we acclaim, and often those younger than us ask us big questions about the world. I may only be 16, but this does happen to me too!
A 5 year old boy in my church after being asked how do we know God loves us, responded with because God loves all of us, even when we do terrible wrongs.
Often we find that even the youngest of us can be the wisest in many situations!

But for that boy, for all the children, and for ourselves, let us dream. But let us live the dreams we hold so dearly in our hearts and minds. Let us love.
Let us love all things, and spread this message through all people.

Let’s bring heaven on earth.
Let’s love openly with all that we have.
Let us live.

Let us Love.
